Is MK-677 legal?

MK-677 is not scheduled under the federal Controlled Substances Act. It has never completed FDA approval, and because it remains an investigational compound, it cannot be sold as a dietary supplement or marketed for human consumption. It is legal to purchase in the US for research purposes, that is the entire basis on which this product is offered.

MK-677 is listed on the WADA Prohibited List under category S2 (peptide hormones, growth factors, related substances and mimetics) and is prohibited at all times, in and out of competition. Anti-doping laboratories screen for it specifically: published LC-MS/MS methods report detection windows of roughly 4 weeks, far beyond the compound's ~24-hour half-life.

Standard workplace panels (5-, 10-, and 12-panel immunoassays) screen for classes such as opiates, amphetamines, cannabinoids, cocaine metabolites, and benzodiazepines. MK-677 does not belong to any of those classes, and standard employment panels do not test for it.

The status described in section 1 is US-specific. Import and possession rules for research compounds differ by country and change frequently, some countries restrict or prohibit importation entirely.
